I have a question regarding the target coupons we use at Publix - Does anyone pay attention to the fact that they all say "limit one per transaction/customer" or something along those lines? My Publix takes Target coupons, but I don't want to push my luck by turning in more than one for each item purchased when the coupons clearly say "limit one per transaction/customer" (like the pop tarts). If Target won't take more than one, why should we ask Publix to take more than one? Has anyone actually asked a Publix manager about this, or do couponers just turn them in and hope the cashier doesn't say anything about it? Just saying - maybe the Publix stores wouldn't stop taking target, food lion, or other competitor coupons if certain people were not abusing the privilege.
Anonymous,
Thanks for your comment! I completely understand what you are saying. This is why my Publix deal posts list price calculations using only 1 Target or Food Lion coupon.
Some people do get an okay for using multiples of these coupons from their managers, and some Publix stores do allow it. Personally I do not feel comfortable using them even in those situations, and here's just one reason why:
The more abuse that goes on with competitor coupons will inevitably end in Publix not accepting competitor coupons, so those cheating the system now are shooting themselves (as well as others) in the foot.
Publix is a company, which many see as some huge corporate entity with endless resources. While it may have an incredible amount of resources, a company is really just a group of people. Cheating "the system" is really cheating the people it is made up of: your neighbors, friends, family members, and fellow citizens.
My husband always says "My integrity is worth more than $.50" (or whatever amount of money you're talking about). It's a great little saying to remember in all kinds of life's situations, including couponing.
Thanks for the comment, for reading Fiddledeedee, and for dusting off my soapbox for me :)
