This past weekend, family and friends gathered at our home for a special baby shower. My sister is expecting her first little one, a boy named Josiah, and we are all thrilled! Since decorating is my favorite part of throwing a party, here's the first in a series of baby shower decor ideas - all of which are easy and inexpensive (a winning combination in my book!).First things first: I got this idea from the very fabulous Trina at Fabulously Frugalicious. If you haven't checked out her blog, do - she's really funny and creative!
This banner was ridiculously easy to make and read "Baby Josiah". Here are the directions:
- Choose paper and ribbon to coordinate with your shower's color theme
- Cut the paper into small cards (mine were 4"x6")
- Print letters on the paper in your favorite font
- Tape one coin onto the back of each piece of paper. (My brilliant mom thought of this, and it helps the cards to lay flat wherever you hang them.)
- Attach the cards to the ribbon with clothespins
- You're done!
The only thing I had to purchase for this was the paper ($.80 on sale at JoAnn's), but purchasing everything new would be around $5.
Check back for Part 2 in a few days! In the mean time, how do y'all decorate for baby showers? I'd love to hear some ideas...

Too cute! Love the coin idea. What a smart mom you have! :)
LOVE IT!
I'll be borrowing the idea for a baby shower at my house (May 30)!
Thanks
Oh, I love it! It turned out super cute and I am so glad the idea worked for you! Thanks for the link love ;)
My sister just had a shower for a friend that was so cute...bed time theme. She asked the guest to all bring a bed time book for the baby and she decorated the table with a sheet and made the cake into a crib with chocolate rails and a fondant baby sleeping under a fondant sheet.
We did a shower for a friend who was having a baby boy. We bought balloons in various colors, tied strings to them and attached them to the necks of bottles of bubbles we got at the Dollar Tree. We wrapped different size boxes with wrapping paper that matched the balloons and used them as "cupcake stands". We made homemade cupcakes and used address labels to create cupcake flags. We wrapped the address labels around a toothpick and poked them in the top of each cupcake. It was really cute, easy and frugal :) Love the idea with the clothespins and name. Thanks for sharing!
Great idea! Thanks for sharing that with us. I'll remember that idea, even to use for a bday party. I was thinking of you last weekend - every time I'd get tired and think, "Phew...there's too much going on.", I'd remember all you had on your plate and instantly feel rested! ; ) Glad everything went well!
That is a great idea! It's cheap and it looks great too!
We have made these pacifier mints for more than 5 baby showers now, and they are always a hit! I found this random picture on flickr for you to see, since I personally don't have a pic.

What you need:
2 (13 ounce) bags of white individually wrapped Lifesavers candies.
2 dozen jelly belly beans, about 1/2 cup. You can find the cutest colors of your choice at Target!
6 ounces tube white cake icing, not the gel, that doesn't dry as fast.
Unwrap all the Lifesavers. (if you use the mint flavors, they are bigger and work a little easier.)
Take one Lifesaver and apply a thin layer of frosting around the inner hole.
Grab a jellybean and place one of the short, round ends in it, so the length of the jellybean is coming out of the hole.
Flip the Lifesaver over.
On the other side, take the frosting and make a slightly thicker (yet still on the thin side) layer of frosting around the inner hole/center, and place another Lifesaver perpendicular attaching edge of 2nd Lifesaver to center of 1st Lifesaver with jellybean attached to it.
Place on flat surface and allow to dry about 1 hour.
Sooo cute!
Enjoy!
