Pita Pizzas!

Toufayan Pitas are BOGO at Publix this week (2 packs for $1.29). The pitas themselves freeze really well, so I keep them frozen and usually just pull out a few at a time. In addition to using them for pita sandwiches, we like to make mini-pizzas with them! They're delicious and really easy to prepare, making them perfect for lunch.

Here's how to make them:
  • Spread some tomato sauce over the tops of some pitas
  • Add cheese and your favorite pizza toppings
  • Bake just long enough to melt the cheese
  • Serve everyone has their own personal pizza!
Speaking of cheese, have y'all seen the new BIG blocks of cheese at Walmart? They have 2 lb blocks of cheese priced at $7.18 each. That works out to $3.59/lb, which is the best deal I've seen around! We haven't had any problems with the cheese going bad before we could use it, but if you're concerned you can always throw the cheese in the freezer (it's just a little more crumbly after thawing).

Let me know if y'all try the Pita Pizzas!

Ha! I thought I made up this recipe :) We've been making these for years now. We love the pitas as pizza crusts. Great minds think alike!

I've been doing this with sliced bagels for years. After I saw your post, I picked up some pitas, and my kids loved it!

It's so easy to make pizza sauce. Use one 8-oz can of your (free!) Muir Glen tomato sauce, and add 1 Tablespoon of oregano or italian seasoning. Viola!

I do this with the Arnold Sandwich thins. Publix had them BOGO a few weeks ago and I stocked up because they are only 1 WW POINT each :)
