I don't know about y'all, but New Year's Day is right up there with Independence Day as one of my favorite holidays for cooking and entertaining. Half of the fun for me is flipping through my cookbooks and magazines, deciding on what new recipes to try out and which old ones to repeat. Of course, there are some dishes that aren't up for debate, like the Collard Greens, Black Eyed Peas, and my Grandma's Cornbread!

Perhaps I love New Year's so much because of the great memories I have of celebrating it with family and friends growing up, or maybe it's just the idea of a fresh start with new goals and dreams. Either way, New Year's Day is a perfect time to relax and enjoy family, friends, and food! Here's how we'll be celebrating New Years; the only way I know how - Southern style!

Happy New Year! Your menu sounds yummy!
We do hoppin john and collards, cornbread, with some sort of pork (ham or pork roast) for the meat eaters.
Love the punch recipe too! :)
