It's that time of year, y'all!

(Photo from http://www.marthastewart.com/. Check out Martha's Cookie Press Cookie recipe here!)

By the end of this week, November will be here! Baking season will soon be upon us!

Since this time of year usually brings many additional expenses, I am trying to cut down on one by purchasing my Thanksgiving and Christmas treat ingredients ahead of time, on sale, and with coupons. This way our family can still have our yummy traditional treats, but won't be hit with a huge grocery bill from having to buy everything at once (and not to mention - collective gasp please - having to pay full price!). Obviously, it's important to only purchase items with relatively long shelf-lives.

Here are some items that I am collecting to have on hand for our Christmas treats:

  • Butter
  • Sugar
  • Karo Syrup
  • Preserves
  • Vanilla flavoring
  • Cream Cheese
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Peanut Butter
  • Wheat Thins
  • Chex Cereal
  • Graham Crackers

Now y'all know I love you and wouldn't leave you without coupon links to start your holiday baking stockpiles, don't you?

  • $.50/2 Pet Ritz Frozen Pie Crusts HERE (new link!)
  • $.50/2 Betty Crocker Cookie Mix HERE (new link!)

$1/1 Gold Medal Flour: HERE

$.75/1 Karo Syrup: HERE

$1/2 Nabisco Ritz, Wheat Thins, or Triscuits (Combine Q with this week's sales at Publix for even bigger savings!): HERE

Happy shopping (and baking!) y'all...

I have been starting a post just like this this week, but just haven't had the time to put it all together. I love baking!!! I'm doing the same as you and purchasing the items a little at a time. How funny that we think alike on this subject! :)

In the Diabetes booklet at CVS right now, there are coupons in the back, including one for $1/2 Wheat Thins or Triscuits. Stack that with the $1/2 manny for extra savings on the Publix sale this week...

There are some GREAT sales on baking supplies at Walgreens in the next couple weeks. Keep your eyes peeled for those. Especially Karo syrup, baking powder, cornstarch, canned pumpkin, evaporated milk, etc.

I'm still not comfortable using the FL coupons that state they are for "Food Lion" products. Can someone give me some assurance that I'm cheating by using them on Publix brand products?? I want too...and feel like a nerd for asking for reassurance...but c'mon! Help a girl out :) LoL!!

Kacy,
I completely understand, and appreciate your desire to use coupons legitimately!

My store's manager told me that my Publix store will accept Food Lion brand coupons on matching Publix brand items. I have also heard this from other Publix shoppers in various locations throughout the South.

The best thing to do is to ask your store manager (not the cashier), and they can advise you as to what your individual store's policies are. They'll definitely appreciate your willingness to know and adhere to the coupon policies!

Hope that helps!
