Saving on Printer Cartridges

Image thanks to www.officedepot.com

Printer cartidges...you can't live with 'em (or with the high prices of them, at least!), and you can't live without 'em (especially if you're printing coupons like crazy!). So what to do?

Here are two ways to save on those expensive cartridges:

Office Depot/Staples

Office Depot and Staples offer $3 coupons for each printer cartridge you return to the store (specific brands apply). If you usually buy your cartridges from one of these stores, return your empty cartridges there and save money on the new one. And if you have a drawer full of them (oh, how I wish I had saved mine!) you can really save big!

Thanks to my friend Stephanie for this reminder. Stephanie just started a great new blog, so be sure to click on over to TheCouponGame and welcome her to the blogworld!

Cartridge World

We recently bought our first cartridge refills, and are loving them! As if the low prices weren't enough (1/2 of what I was paying at Walmart - yippee!), the cartridges seem to be doing great and lasting well so far (almost a month). Our local store gives discounts if you bring your old cartridges in with you when you buy your "new" cartridges, and they have many types of cartridges filled and ready to go so that you don't have to wait.

Cartridge World has many locations worldwide, so click here to search for a store in your area. For more information about cartidge refills, see Cartridge World's "Frequently Asked Questions" page.
Any other ideas for saving on cartridges?

Hey Sarah! Thanks for the props! I hadn't heard of this store... I've not had much luck with reused printer cartidges, but if it's been working for you... hmmm, I might give it a try!

I have an Epson and tried the cartridge refills; but they messed up my printer. So, I've now begun purchasing my Epson brand new cartridges from an ebay store. I have to get six colors for my color printer and just recently got them for $45 (they would normally sell for $65-$70). That's a pretty good deal!

PS - I've also used ebay to buy razors in bulk. My husband and I use the Gillette Mach 3 Turbo and those cartridge refills are highway robbery in the stores. I found a year's supply from an ebayer for half the price!

I have also read that they changed the Staples cartridge return. They no longer give the $3 coupon.

Wow - cool tip. I'll have to see if they are still doing it and with my brand. Thanks for the idea!

Great post! We usually do our refills at Walgreen's, but I will try some of your ideas. Thanks!

We just love Cartridge World and have had no problems with the cartridges at all. We always save our cartridges to return and get a discount. Also, at our local store, you can call ahead what you need and they'll have the cartridges filled and ready to go for us to pick up.
